We will work from live models doing a variety of types of drawing, gesture, contour, and long value drawings of the figure. Students will work at their own level, with individual instruction in black/white or color materials. Bring soft vine charcoal, soft 6B graphite pencil, kneaded eraser and pad of 18 x 24 rough newsprint paper to the first class. Portrait Drawing may be done on some of the poses. In this workshop, students will learn about the materials and techniques of acrylic painting and oil painting, color mixing, and composition. Please bring tubes of either all acrylic or all oil paint: cadmium red deep, ultramarine blue, cadmium yellow light, titanium white, ivory black, 3 brushes, a pre-stretched 16x 20 primed canvas, palette, and your imagination to the first night of class. The beginning framer will learn double-matting and apply other techniques to attain the desired effects to complete the framing.
