Notice: All Woodshop Classes
In that working with power tools is potentially dangerous, these risks will be addressed by providing comprehensive safety demonstrations for each machine in the classroom. Students are required to provide their own eye protection (safety googles/glasses) and hearing protection (earplugs/headsets). Everyone will need their own tape measure with a blade at least 3/4” wide, and a combination square of good quality. Only new wood may be used. Painted, dirty or nail embedded wood will not be allowed on any power tool.

This class is for the student with little or no woodworking experience. We will cover safety, hand tool use, power tool and machine use as well as materials and some basic joinery. Each student in this class will construct a small table. This project will give the student a basic woodworking vocabulary that can be added to later. Attendance at the first two sessions in which safety and machine set up are discussed, are mandatory. This is not a repair class. Be sure to read the notice at the beginning of this section. Class fee includes lab fee. No class 7/10, 7/15.

Woodworking II / Byron Montague
Register for Section 042121: 10 meetings, $165.00
M/W, 6/16 – 7/28, 6:30p – 9:30p, PMS 125,
limit 10
Woodworking II builds on the material covered in the beginning class. With few exceptions, all students enrolling in this class must take beginning wood first. Students may choose their own projects but intermediate students must work from a published plan. Many are available in books, magazines and even on the Internet. If you have any question about the skill level required on any project, please talk with the instructor at the first class. Only advanced students have enough experience to design their own projects. Students work at their own pace and demonstrations are done as the projects themselves present the opportunity. Questions are encouraged and help is always available. Students supply their own materials. Safety glasses and hearing protection are also required; safety instructions must be strictly adhered to. In this class, we build a wide variety of projects; we do not do repair as this is not a repair class. Students must use new wood for projects as used materials can hide broken fasteners and dirt creates excess wear and can damage tooling as well as present a safety hazard. Many wonderful projects have been made in this class and we have a great group of people who regularly repeat it. Class fee includes lab fee. No class 7/9, 7/14, 7/16.
